No engine reaches public or commercial dissemination until it has passed internal gates — scientific validation, quality assurance, reproducibility checks, and alignment with our societal mission. Our mission is not separable from our science: it is a release criterion.
Grounded in the scientific method.
Grounded in the scientific method.
Reproducibility
Every model run is deterministic and version-controlled. Inputs, parameters, and outputs are auditable end-to-end.
Peer-Reviewable Methodology
Methods are documented to a standard that withstands external scientific review and partner due diligence.
Data Lineage
Every data point carries provenance — source, transformation history, and confidence bounds — across all five layers.
Deterministic Modelling
We prefer interpretable, mechanistic models over black-box approximation. When ML is used, it is bounded, validated, and explainable.
"Where hypotheses meet the observer approach."
Green Tundra is our non-commercial staging environment — where we test hypotheses, explore ecological phenomena, and engage citizen scientists under the observer approach: addressing gaps in ecological understanding through open inquiry rather than closed assertion.
Findings from Green Tundra inform our scientific direction alongside peer-reviewed literature and public-domain research. These inputs sharpen the questions we ask — but they do not, on their own, constitute Trophic Bio's intellectual property.
Green Tundra is open. Trophic Bio is built ground-up. We deliberately separate the staging environment from the production framework — open science remains open, proprietary IP remains traceably original.
Trophic Bio is non-derivative.
Trophic Bio's framework — its engines, models, schemas, and data architecture — is built ground-up using commercial-grade toolkits and production-grade infrastructure. It is original Seanasol Research IP and is non-derivative from Green Tundra's open codebase or content.
We take inspiration and direction from the scientific community — from past published research, from public-domain datasets, from citizen science contributed to Green Tundra. But the production code, the modelling implementations, and the commercial data architecture are independent works of authorship developed in-house. Inspiration is not derivation.
Two licences. One coherent ethic.
Released under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0. Free for scientists, educators, and individuals. Attribution required, non-commercial, share-alike.
Public-domain or contributor-derived material we publish — including derivatives from citizen-science inputs — is released back under the same licence.
Proprietary platform, partnership-licensed. © Seanasol Research. The commercial gateway through which our science reaches businesses and institutions on per-case partnership terms.
Where commercial intent is identified, Trophic Bio acts to protect Green Tundra's IP, citizen-scientist contributions, and the non-commercial mission.
Non-commercial requests that touch proprietary modelling are triaged individually. Read our full IP & Licensing Scope, or see how this connects to our mission.
